Alert box & designer

PremiumStudio → Overlays → Alert box & designer26 settings6 min read

The Alert box widget plays a pop-up for every follow, sub, gift sub, bits, raid, channel-point redemption and donation. Select it and click Design alerts to open the Alert designer: a full-screen window with the events on the left, a live preview in the middle and every setting for that event on the right. Changes are saved immediately and the preview replays after each change.

How it works#

  • Alerts are queued: if five follows arrive at once they play one after the other, with Pause between alerts in between.
  • Each event has its own message, media, sound, colors, layout, duration and animation — so a raid can look completely different from a follow.
  • Variants swap the GIF, sound or text from a certain amount up (e.g. 500+ bits). The highest variant reached wins.
  • Text-to-speech reads donation and bits messages aloud with the browser's own voice engine in OBS.
  • A minimum amount hides small bits/tips/raids — handy against spam.

Before you start#

Twitch connected for follows, subs, bits, raids and channel points.
For donations: Revenue connected (Ko-fi, Buy Me a Coffee or webhook).

Good to know#

Want several alert styles at once (e.g. a big raid alert in the middle, small follows in a corner)? Add two alert boxes and turn different events on in each.
A Stop TTS and Pause alerts button can sit on your OBS control panel — see OBS panels.
Text-to-speech reads whatever viewers type. Use Only from amount to keep it to real supporters.

Troubleshooting#

No alert plays on a real follow
Is the event's Alert on ticked? Is the overlay published and open in OBS? Is Twitch connected? Test with the event simulator first.
The sound doesn't play in OBS
Tick Control audio via OBS on the browser source and check the OBS mixer. Browsers block sound until the page is loaded — refresh the source once.
Check the fields: there's an invalid link
One of the media fields has a link that isn't a valid https URL. Clear it or pick from your library.
TTS uses a strange voice
Pick a voice explicitly. The list shows the voices of the computer you're designing on; OBS uses those of your streaming PC.
